Angela Carter was a radical and inspirational novelist. Many of you will remember 'Nights at the Circus'; perhaps 'The Bloody Chamber' or 'The Company of Wolves'? Her prose is exquisite and her ideas challenging. Furthermore, this particular biography has been highly acclaimed, indeed according to Philip Hensher it is ‘The best biography of the year ... [It] will become a classic.’
Our speaker, her biographer Edmund Gordon, is an award-winning writer and critic, and Reader in Creative and Critical Writing at King's College London. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. This promises to be an extraordinary talk about an extraordinary writer.
